Why didn't Dick admit he was in over his head?
Why didn't he stay at Halliburton?
He still would have had all the power he needed to continue stealing from the taxpayers through his sneaky government contracts.

Of course the Dick-Stir wasn't going to let the VP job down. As a matter of fact he isn't being very truthful (big surprise) about being drafted either. Dick vetted all the potential candidates and he decided he was the best choice, this was during the first campaign season. Mad king Boy George knew Dick would be the one in charge of things.
